Pinea Gigs!

Nothing eventful happened on Tues except painting bunnies and chicks so now I will proceed with my Thurs blog:

Pretty eventful day in the fact that we got a new guinea pig..sorta!
We got him from a friend of the teachers and she claimed that he was a she when actually it really was a he and we already had a female one so I'm just going to leave it at that XD
But we spent the whole first hour with the kids halfway in the guineas cages trying to feed the two of them as much lettuce as they could and trying to figure out girls names for it. Some of their favorites were Fluffy, Domio, Juliet and Snickers (the other one is already named that). I tried to convince them to name it Miss Jenna....they weren't buying it!
So now we are more confused as ever because their cages are large and two cages just don't work in the classroom :/

Finally got to read to the class today which is more like read a page and 10 hands shoot up asking questions or telling stories that have nothing to do with the book at all or the "I have to potty."

The one little girl showed me she could count to 100 and that was pretty much the entire day!

Tomorrow I am going with the Pre-K class to see the Wizard of Oz!! Should be a fun time :)

I can see it just fine it's at the top of my page next to share and whatnot like when I look for it for other blogs.

Very confused by this and need some help :/

First Day of Spring!!!

First Day of Spring! It's finally here! We said goodbye to Mr. Winter and hello to warm weather!!

Small class today 3 were missing so the activities weren't that difficult. Colored a teddy bear coloring page for their letter books. Asking them to color to some of them is seriously such a difficult task. You would think we are killing them. We also painted flowers and made hand print flowers. Since it was so warm we went out for the remainder of the morning.

Today we decided to also tell them that one of the guinea pigs had died. When they asked what had happened to him we said he died of old age or he was sick we weren't sure. One of the little girls asked "Did he throw up??" The next 10 mins became a discussion of when they threw up. We said he's in Heaven and some of the kids were convinced that their parents were in Heaven. One kid said he had 4 children and one of them was in Heaven....still confused by those two things.

St. Patricks Day

Little late but...

Top O' the Morning To Ya!

Activities of the day included finding the Leprechaun! That was the only goal on the kids minds this day. They ran around in the hallway looking for him all morning!
For snack we attempted to make shamrock shakes...HUGE FAIL!!! The blender was leaking all over the place and to be honest the kids didn't enjoy them much. But the best was yet to come, during snack the teachers daughter and I went out to the playground and scattered "gold" (twix, chocolate coins, reeces) all over for the kids to collect. While they were outside we flipped the classroom around for just another one of the Leprechauns jokes.
Most of the kids were scared of the Leprechaun and the classic line of the day was "Do Leprechauns have claws???"

I love you more than butter!

Today was a good day and a very funny day! While putting up rainbows and shamrocks that the kids painted, about 5 of them decided to help me put sticky tack on the back of the paintings. I told them small pieces and instead huge globs of the tack was placed on the back. Since I'm 5'2" I had to stand on their picnic table in the kitchen play area in order to put there things up and as any kid does they were asking me a million questions. "Miss Jenna, why are you standing on that?" ..."Because I am short"...."Why are you short??"..."Because I never got tall." They seemed satisfied with that answer but a half hour later were still telling everyone that I was short. I'm now the official swing pusher of children. And finally comes my most memorable part of the day: two of the boys (very close family wise) were on the swing where you both can swing and the one says to the other "I love you more than butter!" This will always and forever be my favorite phrase of endearment.

The kids tried so hard to help me

Tuesday March 6

Not much happened on Tuesday except we attempted to do three activities in one three hour period as well as have a lady from the church come and read to them. We had a juice spill and one kid had an accident. Lastly we colored lions and lambs for March. Favorite lion of the day: "March comes in like a lion...AND GOES OUT LIKE A SHEEP!!!" I love my job :)

Dr. Suess' Birthday!

Today at the preschool we did activities for Dr. Suess' birthday. All the kids brought in their favorite Dr.Suess books and during story time we read a few of them. Earlier in the week we had the kids paint 12" X 22" pieces of paper with a red, white, red, white pattern as the start of Cat in the Hat hats. We added a cardboard brim and the kids got to wear their finished hats today, which wasn't exactly what they wanted to do! For snack I had made Cat in the Hat cupcakes (I'll show the finished product in another post as well as the decorating ideas). As the kids got ready to leave we asked them what tomorrow (Friday March 2nd) really was expecting to hear Dr. Suess' birthday and instead they all screamed out ST. PATRICKS DAY!!!!!! All in a days work :)
